Te KĀika - The VILLAGE

OUR VISION

Whānau Ora - Whānau Oranga

OUR MISSION

He Korowai Manaaki - a trustworthy, transformative village offering community driven wrap around services.

Ōtākou Health Limited (OHL) is a new charity founded in 2015, with a vision to develop Te Kāika - The Village.

Part of this vision is to provide a state of the art facility for existing Health, Social and Education providers to provide innovative and responsive services to the Dunedin community.

Te Kāika provides for a collaboration of services focused around the needs of  Māori, Pacific, and other people that experience barriers to primary care. It is open to everyone and responsive to the wider Otago community.

A key part of this vision was to open within this village  a clinic called Mataora. The site is the old College Street school in Caversham. Mataora is a new health centre which aims to reduce financial and cultural barriers to accessing health services - specifically medical, physiotherapy and dental.

Te Kāika is a partnership between Te Pūtahitanga o Te Wāipounamu the South Island Whānau Ora Commissioning agency, Ngāi Tahu, the University of Otago, Arai Te Uru Whare Hauora and the Pacific Community.
